Accounter was born from frustration—the kind that only comes from years of wrestling with software that promises everything but delivers for no one.
Morné Kruger, founder of Accounter and practicing accountant in South Africa, knew there had to be a better way. After years of navigating bloated accounting platforms that moved at a crawl, charged premium prices in foreign currency, and buried essential features under layers of unnecessary complexity, he decided to build the solution himself.
The problem was clear: existing accounting software tried to be everything to everyone—bookkeepers, business owners, consultants, and accountants. In trying to serve all, they served none well. South African accountants were left with expensive, sluggish tools that complicated rather than simplified their work, with costs that inevitably flowed through to their clients.
