How it's worked out
Free car finance calculator for South Africa. Work out the monthly instalment, total interest and balloon payment on vehicle finance, starting at prime 10.75%.
How the instalment is worked out: the amount financed is the vehicle price less your deposit and trade-in. Interest is charged monthly on the balance, so the instalment is PMT = (P − B ÷ (1 + r)^n) × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n), where P is the amount financed, B the balloon, r the monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12) and n the number of months. At a 0% rate it becomes (P − B) ÷ n.
How much car can I afford?
Start from what you take home each month. Use the salary calculator to turn your gross pay into take-home pay, subtract your fixed costs, and compare what is left with the monthly payment above. Lenders run their own affordability checks, and this calculator does not assess your income.
Pre-approved car finance
Pre-approval comes from a lender, not from this calculator. Use the instalment here to set a budget before you apply, then enter the rate and fees from the lender's quote to see the real cost.
