Convert a password-protected bank statement to CSV

Convert a locked bank statement PDF using its document password. Review extracted transactions and download CSV for Excel or accounting import preparation.

Upload statement PDFs

How does this work?

Accounter can attempt to extract a password-protected bank statement when you provide the correct PDF document password. Upload the statement, enter the password in the converter, review the extracted transactions and export CSV. The password unlocks the document; it does not replace your banking login or recover an unknown password.

Updated · Accounter product workflow guide

  1. 1.Find the document password in the message that delivered your statement, or request a fresh PDF from your bank.
  2. 2.Select the complete statement PDF in the upload area below.
  3. 3.Enter the PDF document password when prompted. Use the PDF password field, not your online banking credentials.
  4. 4.Extract and compare the dates, descriptions, debits, credits and balances with the unlocked original.
  5. 5.Sign in or create an account to download CSV, subject to available page credits. Open the CSV in Excel or prepare it for your accounting system.

Try statement extraction

Preview the extracted rows before downloading. CSV downloads require an account and available credits. For batch processing, sign in and use available page credits from a purchased pack or subscription. Enter passwords per file when prompted.

PDF only · up to 20 MB

Your PDF is read by Accounter using Google and OpenRouter AI services, outside South Africa. Without an account, the preview and the PDF are deleted within 3 hours. How we handle statements

No account needed to preview. Sign in only when you want the CSV.

Read our privacy policy and extraction pricing before uploading.

Example: an emailed monthly statement

Illustrative workflow: you receive a two-page statement that opens only with the password supplied by your bank. Upload that same PDF and enter its document password. Once extraction finishes, compare both pages with the preview before downloading. A readable unlocked PDF is an alternative if the encrypted file cannot be processed.

Troubleshooting your statement

The converter says the password is incorrect

Check that the original PDF opens with the same password. Check capitalisation and unintended spaces. A password for online banking is not necessarily the document password.

I do not know the document password

Check the bank email or SMS for instructions, or download a new statement from online banking. Accounter does not recover or bypass unknown document passwords.

The PDF opens but extraction fails

Try an unlocked copy saved from a PDF viewer, if you are authorised to do so, or a fresh original PDF. A readable document can still require corrections; compare the output with the statement.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a locked bank statement to Excel?+

With the correct document password, Accounter can attempt extraction and export CSV. Excel can open CSV; this workflow does not download a native XLSX workbook.

Can I upload several locked statements?+

Signed-in customers with available page credits can upload several locked PDFs together. Enter each file’s document password when prompted in the file list. Files with different passwords can stay in the same batch.

Should I enter my bank login password?+

No. Enter only the password used to open the PDF. Bank login details are not needed for statement extraction.

Is CSV download available without an account?+

You can start with the public preview flow. CSV download requires an Accounter Hub account and available credits; check current pricing and usage limits before processing a larger job.
